Nov 9: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Nov 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 33 new cases of confirmed infections (32 imported cases, 13 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Shaanxi province, 4 in Guangdong province, 4 in Sichuan province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Jiangsu province; 1 indigenous case in Tianjin municipality), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 19 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 564 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on Nov 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,603 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,240 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 363 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Nov 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 86,245 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 81,187 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 424 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 869,505 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 16,503 were still under medical observation.
On Nov 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 9 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 28 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 19 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Nov 8, 804 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 497 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Nov 8, 5,997 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,374 in Hong Kong (107 had died and 5,144 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 577 in Taiwan (7 had died and 524 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
