Archaeological excavations at the Jiuwutou relic site in Wenxi of Shanxi province have unfolded the past glory of the house of Ni, an influential family of nobility dating to the last Shang Dynasty (c.16th century-11th century BC).

The discovery of bronzewares, jade, pottery and bones at the site placed it on the list of China’s top 10 archaeological findings in 2018.

A selection of artifacts from the Jiuwutou site is now on show at the Glory of Hedong exhibition at the National Museum of China in Beijing through Jan 25.
