The international news group also promoted and displayed the special topic globally through multiple channels, including its overseas social media accounts.
The series of articles tells the story of Xi'an to readers and netizens around the world from multiple angles and recommends the most popular tourism routes to take in Xi'an, sparking a wave of international chat and dialogues.
To date, nearly 300 global mainstream media and portal websites have reported on and published content on the special topic. They include US broadcaster NBC, the Daily Herald in Chicago, French news agency Agence France-Presse and Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbun.
The total number of global visits on the subject in the various media online outlets has now exceeded 110 million hits.
Xi'an is rich in historical and cultural resources. The world-famous Terracotta Warriors, the Bell Tower Drum tower, City Wall and Big Wild Goose Pagoda are all landmarks of the ancient city.
Statistics showed that during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday this year, Xi'an received a total of 14.75 million visitors, generating tourism revenue of 11.14 billion yuan (1.68 billion).
