Nov 1: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new cases of confirmed infections (21 imported cases, 7 in Gansu province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 3 indigenous cases, all in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 20 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 688 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Oct 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,380 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,080 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 300 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 31, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,997 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 81,004 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 359 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 861,405 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 14,247 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 69 new asymptomatic cases (including 8 imported cases). 11 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 3 cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 31, 666 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 446 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 31, 5,924 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,323 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 5,089 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 555 in Taiwan (7 had died and 515 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
