Oct 31: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 33 new cases of confirmed infections (27 imported cases, 8 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Yunnan province; 6 indigenous cases, all in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 17 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 653 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. As of 24:00 on Oct 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,359 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,060 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 299 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Oct 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,973 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,984 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 355 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 859,748 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 13,280 were still under medical observation.

On Oct 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 38 new asymptomatic cases (including 23 imported cases). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 9 cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Oct 30, 611 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 449 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Oct 30, 5,920 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,320 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 5,082 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 554 in Taiwan (7 had died and 514 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
