Oct 28: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 42 new cases of confirmed infections (20 imported cases, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 6 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Sichuan province; 22 indigenous cases, all in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 8 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 500 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Oct 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,284 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,017 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 267 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Oct 27, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,868 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,936 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 298 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 853,920 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 9,907 were still under medical observation.
On Oct 27, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 38 new asymptomatic cases (including 19 imported cases). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 24 cases (including 2 imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 27, 570 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 408 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Oct 27, 5,904 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,308 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 5,053 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 550 in Taiwan (7 had died and 502 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
