Oct 24: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 28 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 9 in Guangdong province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Beijing municipality and 2 in Fujian province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 11 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 885 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Oct 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,213 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,959 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 254 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Oct 23, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,775 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,876 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 265 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 849,503 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,069 were still under medical observation.
On Oct 23, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 27 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 24 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 23, 404 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 403 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Oct 23, 5,878 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,284 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 5,029 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 548 in Taiwan (7 had died and 497 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
