Quzhou receives national award for 'double support'

Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, was awarded as a National Double Support Model City for its efforts to support the military and their families, and to strengthen the military's support to the government and the people at a commendation conference in Beijing Oct 20.

It is the fifth consecutive time the city has won the title, which is held every four years. Quzhou has always taken its "double support" work as an overall and strategic effort, and innovatively promoted "double support" work in the country.

This double support ranges from the traditional pension and preferential treatment to the practice of support for the military and their families, from the placement of ex-servicemen to the service and management of servicemen throughout their lives, from the joint construction and sharing of the army and the land to the construction of an honor system for servicemen and their families.

Double support culture has become an important part of the city brand of "Home of Southern Confucianism · A Model City of Virtue" and the passing on of urban character from generation to generation. Quzhou has won the title of National Model City of Double Support five times in a row and the title of Zhejiang Province Model City of Double Support six times in a row.
