Wuxi Murata Electronics Co, a manufacturing subsidiary of Murata Manufacturing Co, completed construction on a new facility and held its opening ceremony in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District on Oct 19.
The new factory, costing over $600 million to build, began construction in November, 2018. It contributes an additional 118,000 square meters to the original factory in WND.
The new factory will produce 80 billion SMD ceramic capacitors per month at full capacity, bringing in an expected 4 billion yuan ($599 million) in annual sales.
The new production facility will help deal with increased demand for multilayer ceramic capacitors, according to the company.
Wuxi Murata Electronics Co, built in WND in 1994, is the largest Chinese production center of Murata Manufacturing Co and employs around 10,000 people.
The company has become a global leader in a number of electronic products, including ceramic capacitors, filters, and high-frequency components. From January to August this year, its industrial output was valued at over 5 billion yuan, with a total of $760 million in imports and exports.
