A multi-functional ro-ro (roll-on roll-off) ship developed by Yantai-based CIMC Raffles was launched in Longkou, Yantai, a coastal city in Shandong province.
The ship, namedBohaihengda, is 189.9 meters long and 26.4 meters wide with a gross tonnage of 25,000 tons.
The modern energy-saving and environmentally-friendly multi-purpose ro-ro ship is designed to carry cars, trucks, containers and dangerous goods.
It features a 2,700-meter-long driveway, is able to hold more than 300 vehicles of different sizes, and has a maximum travel speed of 5,000 nautical miles.
It is the largest and safest multi-purpose ro-ro ship in Asia, and was independently developed by China.
