As part of Guangdong province's more than 20 year commitment to assisting Guangxi in its poverty alleviation efforts, Shenzhen has been helping 17 counties in the two prefecture-level cities of Baise and Hechi since September 2016, aiding a total of 1.373 million people in 1,438 impoverished villages.
In the past four years, Shenzhen has helped the two cities through various methods like financial support, industrial cooperation, consumption-driven poverty alleviation measures, as well as employment and education assistance, achieving fruitful results.
Longhua district in Shenzhen has set up an exhibition center to help sell agricultural and sideline products of Donglan county, Hechi to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and all over the country, increasing people’s incomes through the planting and breeding industries. Enterprises in Longhua district also helped Donglan county by signing cooperation agreements, establishing logistic centers, as well as creating planting and breeding industry chains.
Under the Guangdong-Guangxi Poverty Alleviation Cooperation Mechanism, Shenzhen and Bama Yao autonomous county, Hechi have jointly launched an employment service platform to provide one-stop services for impoverished workers, helping them find employment opportunities in Guangdong.
The platform provides free employment information and organizes the transportation of impoverished laborers to Guangdong for free. Work liaison service stations were set up in both Shenzhen and Bama to promote the precise transfer of employment and achieve accurate identification of employment labor opportunities.
In recent years, Shenzhen and Bama have organized nearly 400 junior and senior high school graduates from impoverished families to conduct higher vocational education and training for free, as well as providing them nearly 10,000 yuan ($1,492.36) in various subsidies per year.
Moreover, Longhua district also built an industrial park and poverty alleviation workshops in Bama.
In addition, Longhua district and Donglan county jointly built a modern primary school in December 2017, with a total investment of 60.21 million yuan, to solve the problem of schooling for children of relocated families.
