During the National Day holiday, which ran from Oct 1 to 8 this year, Southwest China's Guizhou province saw 51.91 million visits and achieved tourism revenue of 36.72 billion yuan ($5.47 billion) – 76.71 percent of the same period last year.

Guizhou's 38 scenic spots launched 55 new attractions before the holiday, and 97.5 percent of the province's national A-level scenic spots were open to the public during the holiday. Also, all of the scenic spots operating over the holiday organized cultural activities to attract more tourists.

According to a third-party survey, shopping, catering and transportation costs occupied 24.4 percent, 20.3 percent and 19.7 percent, respectively, of tourists' total expenses during the holiday.

Before and during the eight-day holiday, Guizhou's culture and tourism department organized nine supervision teams and paid over 4,000 visits to investigate 3,000 tourism-related companies.

It also cooperated with the Department of Emergency Management of Guizhou Province to send holiday safety tips to visitors via text messages.

Guizhou's official online tourism platform also launched services covering scenic spot reservations, tourist volume monitoring, information inquiries and shopping, among other areas. By Oct 8, the platform had 76.58 million visits and 7.62 million registered users.

During the holiday, Guizhou saw 3,867 flights carrying 522,000 passengers and 3,878 trains with 2.1 million passengers. A total of 6.24 million people visited the province by road transport.

Guizhou received and handled 20 complaints from Oct 1 to 7, while no complaints were filed on Oct 8. The total number of complaints received during this year's holiday was 77.43 percent fewer than last year.
