BEIJING -- China has made strides in safeguarding social fairness and justice, advancing the socialist judicial system with Chinese characteristics in the last five years. The following facts and figures were highlighted in the work of Chinese judicial and procuratorial organs:
-- Over the past five years, the case filing register system has been implemented, with an on-the-spot case registration rate of over 95 percent in courts nationwide.
-- The reform of the criminal litigation system centering on trials has been pushed forward in all respects.
-- More than 120,000 judges and 90,000 prosecutors across the country were selected in the wake of the quota system reform. Judicial organs at the first line of case handling were prioritized with higher quotas to ensure the quality and effect of their work.
-- In September this year, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Ministry of Public Security jointly issued a guideline to further clarify the application of justifiable defense, explicitly encouraging justifiable defense and defending the spirit of the rule of law.
-- Since 2017, with the procedure for trial supervision, Chinese courts have redressed 190 criminal property rights cases which were wrongly adjudicated, involving 237 people.
-- Procuratorial organs continued to implement 11 procuratorial policies to serve the private sector.
-- In the first half of this year, Chinese courts filed over 3 million cases online, held about 500,000 court sessions via the internet, and carried out online mediation for nearly 1.4 million cases.
-- Across the country, 98 percent of the courts have preliminarily established litigation service centers that are multi-layer, specialized, and advanced with IT applications.
-- Prosecuting agencies across China have promoted the integration of their web portal, hotline and procuratorial service centers.
