Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, saw a boom in tourism during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival from Oct 1 to 8.
Official data showed that tourists made 6.55 million trips to the city, generating revenue of 7.6 billion yuan ($1.13 billion) and signaling that Yantai has largely recovered from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the holiday, local authorities launched more than 350 activities to help attract tourists and promote the development of local tourism. Penglai launched a 24-hour live streaming activity, while Zhaoyuan Taojin town hosted a chrysanthemum exhibition, temple fairs and folk performances.
The city also implemented more than 100 preferential policies and issued consumption vouchers worth 900,000 yuan to stimulate tourism consumption.
