Oct 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Guangdong province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 7 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 397 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Oct 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,933 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,720 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 213 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Oct 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,482 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,635 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 213 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 837,392 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,721 were still under medical observation.
On Oct 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 31 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 24 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Oct 5, 375 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 373 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Oct 5, 5,688 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,124 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 4,864 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 518 in Taiwan (7 had died and 485 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
