Oct 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 6 in Guangdong province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Yunnan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 10 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 272 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Oct 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,901 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,706 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 195 confirmed cases (including 1 in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Oct 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,450 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,621 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 195 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 7 suspected cases. 835,190 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,439 were still under medical observation.
On Oct 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 26 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 19 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 5 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Oct 3, 366 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 364 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Oct 3, 5,671 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,108 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 4,849 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 517 in Taiwan (7 had died and 484 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
