Oct 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 10 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 801 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Oct 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,885 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,696 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 189 confirmed cases (including 1 in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Oct 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,434 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,611 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 189 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 834,705 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,227 were still under medical observation.
On Oct 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 24 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Oct 2, 364 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 362 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Oct 2, 5,667 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,104 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 4,843 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 517 in Taiwan (7 had died and 484 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
