Oct 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Oct 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 7 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 607 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Oct 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,875 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,686 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 189 confirmed cases (including 1 in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Oct 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,424 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,601 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 189 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 834,101 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,424 were still under medical observation.
On Oct 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 33 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Oct 1, 377 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 375 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Oct 1, 5,658 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,097 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 4,837 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 515 in Taiwan (7 had died and 484 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
