A total of 760 boxes of prepackaged luosifen, a type of Chinese rice noodles and an iconic dish in Liuzhou, produced by Guangxi Luobawang Food Co Ltd, has passed inspections by Liuzhou Customs and departed for Italy on Sept 25, marking luosifen's official entry into the European market.
Set up in January 2015 in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Guangxi Luobawang Food Co Ltd has grown into a pioneer in instant luosifen manufacturing in China.
"Consumer habits have changed since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the sales volume of luosifen has seen rapid growth this year. We receive overseas orders almost every week," said Chen Zihao, the person in charge of export sales from Guangxi Luobawang Food Co Ltd.
Certificates meeting the demands from Europe were issued for the products to be exported by Liuzhou Customs after the sampling inspection.
Wu Chunlan, a staff member from Liuzhou Customs, said that the Europe applies strict standards and supervision systems for food quality and safety, making it very difficult for Chinese food, especially rice-made products, to enter the European market.
At present, the prepackaged luosifen produced in Liuzhou has been widely sold in countries including the United States, Canada, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea.
A total of 73 batches of luosifen have been exported from Liuzhou Customs from January to August this year, worth nearly 21 million yuan ($3.08 million), being 22.5 times of the overall export value of luosifen in 2019.
