Sept 30: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 8 in Guangdong province, 5 in Fujian province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Sichuan province), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 12 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 671 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Sept 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,854 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,663 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 191 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Sept 29, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,403 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,578 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 191 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 832,884 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,610 were still under medical observation.
On Sept 29, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 21 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 29, 375 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 373 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Sept 29, 5,638 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,079 in Hong Kong (105 had died and 4,807 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 513 in Taiwan (7 had died and 482 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
