Baishagang village in Putuo district, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, has recently been recognized as a Beautiful Entertainment Village by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, local media reported on Sept 24.
Baishagang village is located on Baisha Island and more than 70 percent of its land is covered in vegetation.
The village enjoys a reputation as the "Eden of Sea Fishing" in the East China Sea and boasts a healthy environment and unique landscapes.
Baishagang is home to 20 homestays with a total of 220 guestrooms. In 2019, the village's tourism revenue totaled 34 million yuan ($4.98 million), and 256 residents had jobs involving the tourism industry, including 201 local villagers.
In recent years, Baishagang has stepped up efforts to improve its natural environment and infrastructure.
In 2008, the village was named a State-level sea fishing training center. In 2012, it was approved as a national 3A scenic spot (5A being the highest). And in 2017, it was selected as a demonstration base for the recreational fishery industry in China.
