Sept 23: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Sichuan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Henan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 8 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 277 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Sept 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,758 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,590 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 168 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and no suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Sept 22, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,307 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,505 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 168 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 828,204 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,864 were still under medical observation.
On Sept 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 18 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 21 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 20 imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 22, 385 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (all were imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Sept 22, 5,601 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,046 in Hong Kong (103 had died and 4,729 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 509 in Taiwan (7 had died and 479 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
