According to the Shenzhen-Hechi Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation Cooperation, Hechi has received a total of 483 million yuan ($71.42 million) in financial assistance funds from Shenzhen in the first half of 2020, an increase of 4 million yuan from 2019. Among them, 451 million yuan are municipal level and 32 million yuan are district level.
The assistance funds from Shenzhen have been issued to Hechi, Luocheng Mulao autonomous county, Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, Donglan county, Bama Yao autonomous county, Fengshan county, Du’an Yao autonomous county, and Dahua Yao autonomous county for implementing 131 projects. To date, the city has spent a total of 442 million yuan in funds and 97 projects have been completed.
Shenzhen has guided 61 enterprises to carry out project construction in various counties and districts in Hechi, completing an investment of 2 billion yuan and assisting 39,708 impoverished people. It has also built 123 poverty alleviation workshops in seven nationally designated poverty-stricken counties and 1,343 impoverished laborers have been employed.
To date, Hechi has sold a total of 495 million yuan in agricultural products to the eastern region of China, lifting 13,790 people out of poverty. Moreover, 38 labor training courses have been held, training 5,337 impoverished people. In addition, 7,405 impoverished people have found jobs with the help of the Shenzhen poverty alleviation labor service cooperation.
In addition, Shenzhen has conducted educational cooperation assistance and medical cooperation assistance. A total of 105 enterprises and social organizations have provided paired assistance for 37 poverty-stricken villages, investing 133 million yuan in assistance funds, including financial and materials donations, to implement 353 projects to lift impoverished villages out of poverty.
