Sept 22: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 6 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Yunnan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 13 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 421 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on Sept 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,748 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,582 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 166 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and no suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on Sept 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,297 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,497 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 166 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 827,716 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,653 were still under medical observation.
On Sept 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 21 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 21, 391 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 390 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Sept 21, 5,593 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,038 in Hong Kong (103 had died and 4,717 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 509 in Taiwan (7 had died and 479 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
