The 2020 Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation Chief Executive Joint Conference took place in Sanya, Hainan province on Sept 18.

The Guangxi delegation, led by Chen Wu, chairman of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, attended the conference.

The Pan-Pearl River Delta region has been considered an important hub for the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, a major area for the construction of the Belt and Road, as well as one of areas in China with the most vitality and potential for development.

The gross domestic product of the Pan-Pearl River Delta region in 2019 totaled around 35.67 trillion yuan ($5.28 trillion), which was a 5.6-time increase of that in 2004.

Chen said during the conference that Guangxi will team with parties in the region to take an active role in the construction of the Greater Bay Area, the Hainan Free Trade Port, as well as the city cluster in the Beibu Gulf, elevating the Pan-Pearl River Delta regional cooperation to a new level.

Chen noted that the cooperation between pilot free trade zones in the Pan-Pearl River Delta region and the Hainan Free Trade Port should be further strengthened to be a pilot in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), as well as to carry out innovations in regional platform integration.

Cooperation among areas alongside the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in Western China will be deepened, while more matchmaking initiatives between the Pan-Pearl River Delta region and the Greater Bay Area will be taken to make contributions to the high-quality development of Pan-Pearl River Delta regional cooperation.
