CHINGOLA -- Chinese village chicken rearing training project has created over a thousand jobs for Zambians in Luanshya district, a senior civic leader said here on Sept 17.
Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda said the initiative to have a joint venture between Zambia and China's learning institution in training of youths and women in village chicken rearing is bearing fruits.
"We have seen a lot of people start running their own village chicken rearing after the training which they underwent with the Chinese experts," he said.
Giving an update on the outcome of the village chicken training by Chinese, Chanda said the training has been beneficial to Zambians who have now set up their own chicken run facilities saying more a yet to set up their businesses.
Chanda said the district will continue to partner with the Chinese in various economic and social programs.
"What we looking forward to is to strengthen partnerships with our Chinese colleagues in various fields in national development," he said.
Chanda said Chinese are a force to reckon with as they are committed to aiding Zambia's economic development from district to provincial as well as on the national level.
"We have seen a lot of developmental projects being funded by the Chinese, this is as a result of strengthened bilateral relations between the two countries," he said.
And Joyce Mugala, one of the beneficiaries for village chicken training, said there is need to build on entrepreneurship group in Zambia.
"It is from these humble beginnings that people become billionaires, I call upon other women to take part in this business training in village rearing, it's a well-thought business venture," she said.
Mugala said Zambia's partnering with Chinese in various developmental projects is testimony enough that Zambia's economic development is on the right path.
