Sept 21: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Yunnan province, 2 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Fujian province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 7 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 649 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Sept 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,742 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,569 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 173 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Sept 20, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,291 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,484 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 173 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 826,875 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,233 were still under medical observation.
On Sept 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 25 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 20, 397 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 396 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Sept 20, 5,585 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 5,032 in Hong Kong (103 had died and 4,712 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 507 in Taiwan (7 had died and 479 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
