Sept 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 6 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Fujian province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 8 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 796 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on Sept 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,720 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,549 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 171 confirmed cases (including 2 in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Sept 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,269 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,464 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 171 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 826,068 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 6,514 were still under medical observation.
On Sept 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 16 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 18, 374 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 373 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Sept 18, 5,545 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,996 in Hong Kong (103 had died and 4,696 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 503 in Taiwan (7 had died and 478 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
