GUANGZHOU -- Foreign trade in South China's Guangdong province increased 3.5 percent year-on-year to 653.25 billion yuan ($96.5 billion) in August, customs statistics show.
Exports totaled 419.53 billion yuan, up 7.8 percent year-on-year, and imports totaled 233.72 billion yuan, down 3.4 percent, according to Guangdong customs.
In August, Guangdong's total import and export volumes with major trading partners ASEAN and the United States rose 9.3 percent and 23.4 percent respectively.
Guangdong's exports of integrated circuits grew by 26.6 percent year-on-year in August, and exports of textile products including face masks, medical devices and pharmaceuticals continued to increase.
In the same period, imports of computers and computer components increased by 14.4 percent, and household appliance imports by 28.3 percent.
