A total of 1,015 projects on compulsory education have been implemented, of which 1,005 have been completed, with a total investment of 1.59 billion yuan ($232.87 million) and an investment completion rate of 98 percent, according to the Hechi education bureau.
The city's compulsory education construction task is to build and improve 546 rural compulsory education schools, including 246 township boarding schools, 250 rural small-scale schools and teaching sites, as well as 50 other in need schools. The total investment is 1.59 billion yuan.
As of the end of August, all 30 newly built schools have been put into use. The project has provided a total of 40,000 positions to 18,000 children from 20 poverty alleviation resettlement sites.
The city has also achieved remarkable results in the implementation of student subsidy policies, teacher supplements, and reducing the number of student dropouts.
To date, the city has issued 144 million yuan in subsidies for compulsory education students who have financial difficulties, assisting 288,800 students in total, of which 152,900 students are from registered impoverished households. As of July 21, the city's compulsory education dropouts have dropped to only 22 people.
