The sixth China Fruit Industry Brand Conference and the Asian Fruit and Vegetable Industry Conference were held in Foshan, Guangdong province on Sept 9.
The results of an evaluation to determine the regional public brand value of fruit in 2020 were released at the conference, and four Yantai brands were listed among the top 50 regional public brands.
The brand values of the Yantai apple and the Qixia apple were determined to be 14.51 billion yuan ($2.12 billion) and 6.63 billion yuan, respectively. The brand value of the Yantai apple has achieved 12 years of continuous growth.
The Yantai apple has a history of more than 140 years. In 2019, Yantai apples were planted over an area of 2.82 million mu (188,000 hectares) and had an output of around 5.68 million tons. The brand value of the Yantai apple has grown rapidly in the past few years, from 10.59 billion yuan in 2015 to 14.51 billion yuan in 2020.
With its bright color and sweet and succulent taste, the Yantai apple enjoys strong popularity in domestic and foreign markets. The apple has been exported to more than 60 countries and regions, including Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Russia.
