The 2020 Beijing Forum for Performing Arts kicked off on September 9, as part of the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services' online forums.
From September 9 to 10, representatives of about 100 performing arts organizations from 27 countries and regions on six continents gathered for virtual discussions about how to help arts industries thrive during the pandemic and how to build a global community of theatres with a shared future.
After the opening ceremony, keynote speeches were given by Wang Ning, president of the National Centre for the Performing Arts; Alex Beard, chief executive of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; Peter Gelb, general manager of the Metropolitan Opera; Waldemar Dąbrowski, director of the Polish National Opera; and María Victoria Alcaraz, general director of Teatro Colón.
Four topics were covered during the thematic forum on the second day:
1) Emergence and Application of New Models of Artistic Production
2) Opportunities and Challenges of Online Streaming
3) New Models of Theater Operation During the Pandemic
4) New Prospect of Building a Community with a Shared Future for Theaters Around the Globe
