Contracts for 107 projects that will move into the Changchun international film metropolis were officially signed on Sept 6 at a ceremony in the Jingyue High-tech Industrial Development Zone in Changchun -- capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province -- according to local media reports.

Officials said the total contract value of the projects was 148.4 billion yuan ($21.73 billion).

They said that 92 percent of the projects involved an investment of more than 1 billion yuan each -- adding that 84 percent related to the film, television and culture sector, as well as the tourism, life and health industry and the digital economy.

At the ceremony, the development plan for the international film metropolis was unveiled. Under it, the film metropolis will cover a total area of 1,051 square kilometers and the core area will cover an area of 7 sq km.

Six bases will be built: a film and television shooting base, a 5G digital film and television industry base, a film and television education base, a film and television cultural tourism base, a film and television incubation base and a film and television headquarters base.

Officials said the metropolis will become an industrial cluster for film, video and the pan-cultural entertainment industries.

It will be built as an international, fashionable, intelligent and creative metropolis for film, TV, culture and tourism.

Meanwhile, a white paper on the film and television industry policy for the film metropolis was released at the ceremony, which included seven support measures issued by the Changchun municipal and district governments.

Officials said that Changchun will use various subsidies and awards to encourage film and television companies to settle there.

At the same time, China's Wanda Group will also support the production of film and television dramas in the film metropolis through the establishment of a non-profit foundation and other measures, so as to support young film and television talent.
