Pudong New Area plans to build another 15 special industrial parks involving robots, ultra-high definition video, medical equipment, and more, according to an announcement at a conference on the construction of industrial parks held by the local government on Sept 2.
Officials said that promoting the construction of special industrial parks is necessary for the development of Pudong's manufacturing industry and for moving up the world's medium- and high-end value chain.
Hang Yingwen, director of Pudong, has recently visited a number of special industrial parks in the area to learn about the current development situation and the needs of companies.
Hang stressed that industrial clusters should be formed to enhance the competitiveness of the parks and to promote high-quality development. He also said it is important to focus on high-end market entities and innovation.

They include the Shanghai Integrated Circuit Design Industrial Park, Zhangjiang Artificial Intelligence Island, an innovative pharmaceutical industrialization base in Zhangjiang area, a 5G industrial park in Jinqiao area, an intelligent manufacturing service industrial park in the Waigaoqiao area, and an aviation industrial park and chip industrial park in the Lin-gang area.
