Sept 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Sichuan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 26 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 525 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Sept 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,517 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,341 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 176 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,066 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,234 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 198 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 816,307 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,587 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 22 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 17 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 1, 353 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 336 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 1, 5,356 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,822 in Hong Kong (90 had died and 4,380 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 488 in Taiwan (7 had died and 462 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
