Zhongguancun Digital and Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance established

The Zhongguancun Digital and Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance - initiated by Xiaomi, Megvii, OneFlow Technology and other enterprises and supported by the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee - has been officially inaugurated in Beijing.

Over the coming years, the alliance will focus on some key objectives, namely to promote the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in different scenarios, encourage the formulation of industry standards, and support the agglomeration of Beijing's AI industry.

To date, the Zhongguancun Digital and Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance has established eight working committees looking at areas like 'digital humans', the logistics industry, digital transformation, drones, smart parks, optical technology, omni-media applications and XR, as well as an AI research center.

In the near future, the alliance will integrate the resources of Zhongguancun enterprises in order to promote the application of AI technology in production and manufacturing, health care, life services, urban governance and other scenarios, and accelerate the accumulation and transformation of AI technology resources.

According to Liu Hang, secondary inspector of the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, industrial alliances, industry associations and other social organizations have remained a strong force for promoting the industrial development of the Zhongguancun Demonstration Zone.

The establishment of the Zhongguancun Digital and Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance will link AI companies with colleges and universities, accelerate technological innovation and application expansion, and further optimize the AI industry ecology.

Next, the alliance will prompt the formulation and evaluation of standards, promote the deep integration of AI technology within the real economy, and strengthen international industry exchanges and cooperation.

In recent years, the Zhongguancun Demonstration Zone has gathered a number of outstanding AI enterprises and innovation resources, forming a complete industrial chain of high-end chips, basic software, core algorithms and overall industry solutions.

Based on the revenue statistics of the 468 AI 'backbone' enterprises, the output value of AI in the Zhongguancun Demonstration Zone in 2019 was about 170 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.3 percent. Zhongguancun has become an innovation highland for China's AI industry.
