Sept 1: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Hebei province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guangdong province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 31 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 532 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Aug 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,509 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,327 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 182 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 31, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,058 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,208 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 216 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 815,740 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,546 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 34 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 12 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 31, 356 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 334 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 31, 5,344 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,810 in Hong Kong (89 had died and 4,342 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 488 in Taiwan (7 had died and 462 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
