Aug 31: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 24 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 814 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Aug 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,499 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,311 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 188 confirmed cases (including 4 in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 85,048 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,177 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 237 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 814,852 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,190 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 17 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 12 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 30, 340 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 312 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 30, 5,335 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,801 in Hong Kong (88 had died and 4,320 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 488 in Taiwan (7 had died and 462 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
