China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has spent over 20 billion yuan (about $2.9 billion) this year on the construction of public health systems and prevention, control and treatment capability systems for major epidemic diseases, according to the region's finance department.
Of the total, 4.65 billion yuan has been spent mainly on medical institutions at all levels in the region to improve the nucleic acid detection capability and strengthen the construction of infectious disease wards and fever clinics.
More than 15.3 billion yuan has been used to support the building of the prevention, control and treatment capability system for major epidemic diseases.
This includes the construction of border emergency treatment centers and backup emergency hospitals, as well as the improvement of the prevention and treatment capabilities of public hospitals and local health clinics.
