The opening ceremony for the Zhejiang Agricultural Livestreaming Demonstration Base (Quzhou) was held on Aug 24 in Kecheng district – under the jurisdiction of Quzhou city, in East China's Zhejiang province – according to local officials.
A group of 50 representatives from agricultural and rural authorities in Quzhou and livestreaming farmer hosts from all over the city attended the event.
Farmers took inspiration from the first Alibaba rural livestreaming school in China which was inaugurated in Kecheng in April – and have been selling their fresh products by livestreaming on their mobile phones.
In the past, there was only one channel for selling high-quality agricultural products in Quzhou, but farmers in villagers can show customers the wonderful village scenery, delicious food and sell local products by livestreaming, local officials said.
They said that to date, the "village livestreaming base" in the rural revitalization complex in Wantian township has held more than 2,000 livestreaming activities, which have effectively boosted local farmers' incomes and prosperity.
"Village livestreaming is new to farmers. It offers a convenient alternative for agriculture in Quzhou," a livestreaming farmer host said.
