Brand effect bolsters Hechi agricultural products' added value

In recent years, Hechi in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has cultivated a number of agricultural product brands with strong competitiveness, further developing its characteristic industries and promoting the city's poverty alleviation efforts.

At present, the coverage rate of characteristic industries at the county level in Hechi has reached 95.47 percent. The city's silkworm production scale has ranked first in the country for 15 consecutive years; the amount of pig, beef, and sheep raised and slaughtered remained first in Guangxi; and the total area of camellia was 1.5 million mu (100,000 hectares), ranking second in the region. In terms of technical talent support, the city has cultivated 3,402 rural entrepreneurs and arranged 4,421 industrial development instructors.

"We have strengthened the selection of agricultural product brands, increased the effect of characteristic brands, as well as enhanced their influence and competitiveness," said the person in charge of the Hechi rural revitalization leading group office.

He also added that the city has 24 selenium-rich brands, as well as 204 agricultural products certified as pollution-free, green food, organic food or with agro-product geographical indication. It has cultivated and formed five regional public brands of agricultural products, as well as five agricultural enterprise brands. In addition, eight product brands have been included on the list of agricultural brands in Guangxi.

The city has comprehensively promoted the optimization and upgrading of agricultural products processing, as well as the integration of rural primary, secondary, and tertiary industries. It has also enhanced the added value of agricultural products, developed various agricultural functions, activated rural element resources, as well as promoted the development of leisure agricultural and rural tourism.

Since the beginning of this year, two new national-level rural industrial integration development demonstration parks have been created and the construction of several projects is progressing smoothly.
