In the first half of this year, a total of 577 million yuan ($83.41 million) was invested in the construction of water conservancy infrastructure in Hechi. Among the investments, 237 million yuan was invested in water infrastructure projects and 340 million yuan was invested in drinking water safety projects.

During this period, Hechi implemented a total of 63 water conservancy infrastructure construction projects, spanning major tributary management, reservoirs reinforcement, water and soil conservation, as well as mountain torrent disaster prevention, completing 37 percent of the annual investment.

As of the end of June, 4,894 drinking water safety projects have been completed in the city, benefiting 163,000 people, including 52,000 impoverished people.

A total of 56 water projects have been repaired in Hechi, with an investment of 17.8 million yuan, while hidden safety hazards in 33 reservoirs and hydropower stations were found and rectified.

The city has also optimized and upgraded the river management system, carrying out the construction of 91 online video monitoring points and comprehensively improving the supervision network system.

Investigations focusing on illegal sand mining in rivers and the construction of water conservancy projects have been conducted. A total of more than 4,000 kilometers of rivers and a water area of 369 square kilometers were inspected.

As of the end of June, the city's 45 water function zones of important rivers and lakes, as well as four water functional areas at river junctions have maintained 100 percent water quality compliance rates in their assessments. From January to May, the compliance rate of the cross section of the river crossing the city boundary in Hechi was also 100 percent.

In addition, the Sancha Hydropower Station in Yizhou district has become the first green small hydropower demonstration station in Guangxi to pass the provincial audit this year, filling the previous gap of no green hydropower stations in the city.
