Area's industrial park exceeded 110 billion yuan in output value last year

Anning in Yunnan province is speeding up its construction of a well-rounded city to develop into a regional international economic hub in western China.

"We are striving to develop Anning into an international regional city along the western side of the Great Mekong Subregion Economic Corridor," said Zhang Qinxun, Party secretary of Anning city."We want to be the most beautiful green city in the central area of Yunnan province and a role model in promoting high-quality development in western China."

This year, the city will make ground-breaking progress in the transportation construction of the city's rail, upgrading of its toll stations, Anning station for the bullet train, planning the site selection for the second airport in Kunming and improving the navigation of its Tanglangchuan River.

In terms of its green city construction, Anning will complete the renovation of houses in rural areas to become among the first batch of national urban and rural integration development pilot areas in the province.

It will also focus on its water environment treatment and develop tourism by utilizing its hot spring resources.

In addition, Anning will accelerate its high-quality development by promoting its five landmark projects including the upgrading of an environmental protection project of Kunming Iron and Steel Holding Company, constructing its industrial zone into a national-level science and technology park and implementing business environment improvement measures.

To date, the KISHC project has landed investments totaling 870 million yuan ($125.86 million) and has initiated steel-related projects utilizing 550,000 metric tons of high-speed wire rod.

Since Anning was upgraded to a county-level city in 1995 it has successfully launched several development projects, Zhang said. These includes the Yunnan project of China National Petroleum Corporation.

The city was listed as a national-level civilized city and has seen a breakthrough in its GDP, which reached 50 billion yuan.

As the youngest 10-million-ton refinery of the CNPC, the Yunnan branch has focused on clean production by utilizing its edge in its information technology.

Since the branch was put into operation in 2017, it has invested more than 3.8 billion yuan in guaranteeing safety and environmental protection in its production.

In July, the branch said it completed a total of 1.08 million tons of crude oil, producing 1.06 million tons.

At the tipping point in development, Anning should seize the opportunities from Yunnan's participation in the Belt and Road Initiative and the China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone to seek a better development with more self-motivation, Zhang said.

With the guidance of the Yunnan Development and Reform Commission, Anning has built an environmentally friendly industrial park with high value-added industries, which aim to attract manufacturers including new energy vehicles, advanced equipment, electronics, new materials and building materials.

In 2019, the city's industrial park produced 110.54 billion yuan in industrial output value.

The park welcomed five companies capable of generating an annual revenue of more than 20 million yuan, and major businesses in the park generated 108.5 billion yuan in revenue.

Playing a significant role in driving the industrial economic development of Anning, the park was listed as one of the top 10 industrial parks in Yunnan province. It is taking a leading role in the province's industrial transformation.

This year, the park is expected to achieve an industrial value worth 100 billion yuan, with an increase of 3.27 percent. In addition, Anning has also sought to attract investment in the construction of its business environment.

In the first half of this year, the province signed a total of 57 investment projects, with 23 of them already put into construction.

To promote investment, the city's commerce authority has launched online platforms using technologies such as virtual reality to provide diversified services.

Next, the city will ramp up efforts in promoting the implementation of these projects and facilitating more investment.
