Aug 26: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 15 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 5 in Sichuan province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Yunnan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 54 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,249 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Aug 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,447 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,229 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 218 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 25, the National Health Commission had received reports of 84,996 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 80,015 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 347 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 813,062 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 11,915 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 5 cases became confirmed cases (all were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 25, 365 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 311 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 25, 5,243 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,710 in Hong Kong (78 had died and 4,108 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 487 in Taiwan (7 had died and 457 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
