Aug 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Hebei province and 1 in Liaoning province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 36 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,294 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 4.

As of 24:00 on Aug 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,432 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,213 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 219 confirmed cases (including 3 in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 84,981 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 79,961 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 386 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 812,268 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 12,370 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 16 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 7 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 24, 374 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 315 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 24, 5,224 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,691 in Hong Kong (77 had died and 4,052 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 487 in Taiwan (7 had died and 457 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
