The newly-built Shanghai research and development center of computer giant Lenovo Group opened in Zhangjiang Science City of Pudong New Area on Aug 21.
Located in the northwestern part of Zhangjiang, the center will serve as the company's regional headquarters in Shanghai.
Lenovo started operating its Shanghai technology and production center in 2003. The center, the company's third in China following the ones in Beijing and Guangdong province, was focused on the R&D of laptops, mobile phones and data centers.
As its business volume in Shanghai increased rapidly, the computer maker decided to expand the center in May 2017. The expanded area covers 17,995 square meters, including 24,179 sq m above ground and 25,365 sq m underground, and comprises offices, canteens, convenience stores, coffee houses and gyms.
In the future, Lenovo will further expand its operations in Shanghai to include research institutes and facilities focused on sales and supply chains.
