The city of Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province has rolled out a series of policies to make the settlement of professionals there much easier, local media reported on Aug 20.
"We aim to attract more skilled professionals to settle down in Zhoushan to support the development of major industries and projects in the city," said Yu Libin, deputy director of the Zhoushan Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security.
Under the new policies, university students under 35 who work in Zhoushan can register permanent residence.
In addition, secondary vocational school students and holders of skill certificates, professional certificates and professional title certificates under 45 for men and 40 for women can get permanent residence in Zhoushan.
Postgraduate students, people with senior professional titles and senior technicians of any age can register their permanent residence in the city.
Officials said the new policies also stipulate that children of talent recognized by the local government -- who have registered permanent Zhoushan residence and live in a public rental house or rental house -- will enjoy the same treatment in education as children of local residents who own a home in the city.
In 2018 and 2019, Zhoushan attracted roughly 20,000 university students to settle and in the first seven months of this year, the city brought in 6,500 university students.
