The Guangdong Guangzhou Development District adheres to high-end upgrading, increases the output in core technology research and development, focuses on the development of high-end software, the Internet of Things, network communications (including mobile Internet), satellite applications, electronic components and materials, digital audio-visual resources, financial electronics and other fields, aiming to create an information technology industry cluster worth two hundred billion yuan.

The agglomeration effect of the new generation of the information technology industry has emerged. In 2017, the industry's output value exceeded 180 billion yuan. In view of this, the Guangdong Guangzhou Development District introduced a 8.5-generation LG OLED production line project worth 46 billion yuan, promoted the development of the CanSemi chip project, introduced the Stanford (Guangzhou) Research Institute, and established the Guangzhou Blockchain Industrial Association and other industrial associations. After all those steps, Guangzhou no longer lacks chips and innovations.

In the artificial intelligence industry, the Guangzhou Development District introduced high-end projects such as the Gowin Semiconductor and the WeRide Unmanned Vehicle, built a number of industrial Internet core platforms such as Alibaba Cloud Industrial Internet, CASICloud and China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and actively promoted the intelligent transformation of enterprises.

By 2022, the IAB industry in the Guangzhou Development District will have achieved a total value of more than 800 billion yuan, 550 billion yuan of it attributable to new generation information technology.
