Aug 15: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new cases of confirmed infections (14 imported cases, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Sichuan province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 1 in Guangdong province; 8 indigenous cases, 7 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and 1 in Guangdong), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 57 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,905 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Aug 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,263 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,084 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 179 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 14, the National Health Commission had received reports of 84,808 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 79,519 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 655 confirmed cases (including 36 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 805,075 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 20,441 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 20 new asymptomatic cases (including 13 imported cases). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 4 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Aug 14, 318 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 175 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 14, 4,887 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,360 in Hong Kong (67 had died and 3,392 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 481 in Taiwan (7 had died and 450 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
