Aug 13: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new cases of confirmed infections (11 imported cases, 4 in Shandong province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province and 1 in Hebei province; 8 indigenous cases in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 56 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,284 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Aug 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 2,227 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 2,065 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 162 confirmed cases (including 1 in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 12, the National Health Commission had received reports of 84,756 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 79,398 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 724 confirmed cases (including 41 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 803,651 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 22,498 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 20 new asymptomatic cases (including 15 imported cases). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 6 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 12, 295 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 150 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 12, 4,770 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 4,243 in Hong Kong (63 had died and 3,189 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 481 in Taiwan (7 had died and 450 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
